Image by @beverlyjoubert. One of the dominant lions at Duba in the Okavango, snarls as he crosses a channel, following in the wake of some females. Lions are typical cats in that they don't enjoy water. However, it is not possible to live and hunt in the Okavango and not get wet. The lions here have had to adapt to hunting in water and as a result their forelegs are exceptionally strong and they may appear more muscular than lions found in drier areas. However, they know that water can contain hidden dangers and they will often show their displeasure at these crossings by snarling continually as they cross. #bigcats #lions #okavango #botswana
