Throwing it back to 2008 when I was granted an exclusive interview with the Obama family. The interview was something I was working towards via a series I created during my time with NBC Nightly News called The Candidate's Kids. For the series I interviewed all the families that election season, with the exception of the Obamas. I got a call the 4th of July weekend to go to Butte, Montana for an interview with the then senator and his wife Michelle on behalf of Access Hollywood. @undergaro and I met the kids-he took them on a tour of the mining museum and when he came back-they were calling him "Uncle Keven" and my Obama family interview began. ?Culmination of hard work and great timing. It was their only family interview. I remember being at the airport after and getting unexpectedly emotional. He was elected soon after.
