I am marching because the women's march is a beautiful grassroots convening centering leaders who are women of color, women who are doing the work of progressing society day-in and day-out. I am marching to support them, to do my part in making this march as big and loud as possible. But you won't hear much else from me. I am privileged to be able to text an editor or an agent and find my words on the home page of a major outlet the next day. This march is inspiring because it is forcing the nation and the media to tell a story about grassroots organizing, to tell a story that isn't the length of a tweet, that won't ensure the most clicks or likes, that doesn't have a celebrity at its center. And that's just what we need. While most of Americans have slowly been finding themselves marginalized from economic and political power it is more important than ever to hear from people who, despite being marginalized from the traditional halls of power, are kicking ass.
