Workers at the River Rouge Ford auto plant in Dearborn, Michigan, wore badges like this one around 1938-1966. As factories grew larger in late 1800s and early 1900s, managers issued ID badges to control access.
The badge identifies the worker with a letter and a four-digit number; the letter designated the division of the plant the employee worked in.
Have you worn a badge at work or as part of your volunteer service?
This week, we're giving you a tour of the #badges in our collection. Want more #BadgeFest? Tune in tomorrow!
