There are absolutely no humane animal products. They just don't exist. Aside from the fact that 99% of animal products come from factory farms, the animals who are raised on small farms are fundamentally no different, being born a slave on death row is not a good life. Being born just to be exploited and killed for someone else's personal gain is not freedom.
Being exploited everyday only to be killed off at a fraction of your natural lifespan when you are of no more use to your oppressor, is not a good life.
If someone is sentient, meaning they are living and feeling and they exhibit intentional behaviours, then regardless of whether they are human or non human persons, they have the inherent right to live free from exploitation, intentional suffering and harm.
Animals are persons, they each are an individual, just like humans are individuals. Non human animals value their lives, their lives mean as much to them as our lives mean to us.
They feel, therefor there is no justification for making them feel afraid or making them suffer. They love and they bond, therefore there is no justification for taking their babies, for making them grieve.
They want to live, therefore there is absolutely no justification for forcing them to die. Stabbing a knife in their throat is morally no different than stabbing a knife in my throat. We all value our own lives, even if no one else values it. It's 2017, there is absolutely no moral or logical justification for using, eating, wearing, or exploiting animals in anyway.
Self gratification is not a justification. Not for forcing abuse on humans or forcing abuse on non humans. We try to find peace amongst ourselves while we impose war on animals. It's got to stop.
