Fiji is home to about 800 species of plants found nowhere else in the world. But the most special is the tagimoucia, a crimson and white flower that serves as the unofficial floral emblem of the South Pacific archipelago. Because of #tagimoucia’s beauty and rarity — it grows mainly on a single mountain ridge on Taveuni, one of the northern islands of Fiji — the flower has attained a kind of celebrity status, as well as a prime position on the nation’s $50 bill. @lamyikfei photographed a tour guide looking for tagimoucia in the dense, dark rain forest of #Taveuni in November. Visit the link in our profile to read more about this rare Pacific Island flower that has a magical significance to Fijians.
