Video by @maggiesteber. Dancers at the fabulous Tropicana Nightclub in Havana, Cuba, perform on stage in the open air Salon Bajo Las Estrellas. Performances are glitzy and bright but also intimate. There is something more earthy about it. The tables march right up to the stage and dancers often dance their way into the aisles between them. The historic night club was launched in 1939 at Villa Mina, a 6-acre suburban estate replete with lush tropical gardens and fountains in Havana's Marianao neighborhood. In its heyday the club was a magnet for international celebrities, musicians, beautiful women, and gangsters. The long list of stars who flocked to the Tropicana included Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Ernest Hemingway, Ingrid Bergman, Errol Flynn, and Marlon Brando.Gangster Meyer Lansky among others held an interest in it for a while until Fidel Castro's revolutionary forces neared Havana.
