SAMMY UPDATE: It's been 5 days since Sammy has been adopted and he's doing well. He has been renamed Jebat (JUH-baht), after a legendary Malay warrior. The first night Jebat was in his new home, he was scared and hid, but by the following morning, he was loving up on his new catdad (Azrin) and rubbing against his legs so much that he could barely walk. Jebat was also a bit overenthusiastic about exploring his new home that he kept his purrents up on Sunday night... but I believe he will settle down once the excitement about having his very own space has abated! I know some didn't agree with Jebat being rehomed – and this has never been shared, but over the few months that Jebat was with us, he got more and more territorial to the point where he was picking fights several times a day with the other cats. (You might remember Tyler's abscess, and more recently, Rochelle had a deep bite wound on her front left paw from when Jebat got restless and attacked over no apparent reason.) I began to feel like the irresponsible cat mom I never wanted to be for trying to force him to get along with the rest when it was clear he wasn't comfortable in a multicat situation. I was ready to return him to the community, my plan after treating the wound I found him with and having him neutered in the first place, but it was a twist of fate that led Jebat to his new home. With this series of events, I think the lesson is to have more faith and more patience. Also, to show more discipline with the next kitty I rescue and/or TNR. I will readily admit that I'm still learning, and I thank everyone who is patient with me on my journey. My deepest gratitude also goes to everyone who has shown love and support in one way or another, because this dream of mine would not be possible without you!
