These days ? I am thinking a lot ? about Francesca Woodman ? and what it means ? to be made to feel like a ghost ? especially now, in your own house/community/country etc. ? I am thinking about how Francesca used the things she was given, which were the very things a ghost represents- loneliness, memory, sadness, and above all Otherness- as the starting point of her work ? I think we can use these very sacred and vulnerable feelings of loneliness and Otherness that are being forced upon us to make sacred and vulnerable art ? what good are these feelings if not malleable, if they cannot be made as the basis for our art ❔❔❔ trying to look at this world climate as a unique time to have complicated thoughts, that surviving can come in many forms that aren't necessarily loud and blatant and bubbly ? sometimes, most of the time, the survival feels lonely and painful and Other, and this is still survival, this is still an act of resistance ? #francescawoodman ???
