These last few storms in California have been a massive wake up call for me to be a bit more prepared. I've traveled many places with hostile weather & been ready for it but typically became complacent upon returning home to a place with traditionally mild weather. But the last few days have left me & the family with no electricity, water and even access to our house at times for almost 4 days. On my street alone 20+ eucalyptus measuring from 80-120ft in length fell across the road into houses and power lines. It's a mixture of shallow rooted trees in oversaturated soil and gale force wind. In reality it's nothing compared to people that deal with this type of thing everyday. But I've taken it as a wake up call to never underestimate nature and hopefully be a bit more prepared.

The last time I saw this much rain in California it snowed right along the coast.
