Throwback to when I only climbed lowball boulders and I still had a functional ankle. Falling from 15 feet didn't bode so well for our Fontainebleau trip, so we flew back to Cape Town to figure out what's going on behind all this swelling and bruising. Turns out, a crack at the base of my fibula and torn ligaments. No walking for 3-6 weeks is going to throw quite a kink in the next few months' climbing plans, so its time to reevaluate some goals. I'm super bummed, but know it could have been so much worse.
On the bright side, we met amazing new friends in France who took such good care of us. A huge thank you to @メリッサ・ル・ネーヴェ for being our tour guide and coordinating so many doctors appointments in France and translating and being positive and encouraging, and to @chris_cazin for showing us around and loaning me crutches. And of course to my very patient husband @arjandekock for supporting me and carrying me around on his back and doing all the travel chores alone. Thankful for great friends to help out even when plans go south.
