Next stop on the “Anatomy of Grand Seiko": Strap and deployant clasp. For the SBGJ019, Seiko decided to use a matte black crocodile strap with accompanying black stitching, secured by a stainless steel deployant clasp. The clasp sports a three-fold construction, with double push buttons on both sides to provide a secure lock. The buckle shows an engraved vintage-looking Grand Seiko logo, a throwback reminiscent of the first GSs of the 1960s/early 70s. In parallel, the GS logo is also present alongside the clasp, but this time it is laser-etched, bringing a modern, contemporary touch that works in beautiful juxtaposition to the classic one. I very much like the choice of strap and deployant clasp for this watch, as it accentuates its elegance and underlines the dressy aspect of the timepiece. @thewatcherist
