The word cappuccino actually has nothing to do with coffee. "Cappuccino" is the diminutive form of cappuccino ("hood") in Italian. These hooded robes, which were reddish-brown in color, were worn by monks and nuns of the capuchin order. "Capuchin," which eventually turned into the name of our beloved coffee drink, became a word synonymous for this special color. Consequently, "cappuccino" = "small capuchin"! ☕ •
