I remember when I started to believe there might be a female president in my lifetime. I had thought it could never happen - in my bones, I knew it wasn't possible. And then at a certain point in her campaign, it became obvious that it was going to happen. It had to happen. Because no one has ever been more qualified, more brilliant, more prepared, more exceptional, or stronger, than this woman. It opened me up to the world - made me feel hopeful, made me feel strong - this prospect. So when she lost, I (and every women I know) felt broken - and scared. It threw an undeniable focus on the truth of our world, and it was crushing.
I try to remind myself we took a step forward. And I'm so grateful to #hillaryclinton for making it all seem possible, even if only in my mind, and only for a time.
So here's to all the girls out there. I feel you. I support you. Your hopes and dreams. Go get it.
