The world of football is saddened by the loss of Anibal Maño Ruiz, who passed away last night in Mexico aged 74. The Uruguayan fainted on the field during the warm-up of Puebla before a match, the team of which he was assistant coach. A popular and respected figure in the game, he lead Paraguay to the 2006 FIFA World Cup after taking over from Cesare Maldini four years previously. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
