Throughout March we are celebrating women artists in our collection, and on view in our exhibitions— #ClaireFalkenstein's "Set Structure with Cylinders" (1944) presents a single, unified mass but can also be broken down into discrete sculptural elements. Similar works, which Falkenstein called “exploding volumes,” were intended to be taken apart and reassembled by the viewer. Later in her career Falkenstein created several large-scale commissions, including "The New Gates of Paradise", the gates of the eighteenth-century Palazzo Venier de Leoni, which now houses the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (@guggenheim_venice). #5WomenArtists #Guggenheim #GuggVisionaries
