Putting these pieces together caused a huge paradigm shift in the way I linked "rewarding myself" to the food choices I was making. Why was I celebrating something positive in my life by eating foods that I KNEW weren't doing my body any good? Why did I continue to stuff my face with sour candy at the movies even after it made my stomach hurt??? Did I really need an ENTIRE pint of Ben & Jerey's non-dairy ice cream to myself when we got home from a successful tour stop? Why did I typically find myself holding a plate of death when I was toasting to someone's life??❤? Shouldn't I want to feed my body what it needs in order to thrive and grow if I I want it to remain healthy and strong? Isn't this the most fundamental component of self-love? To protect and honor my temple? ?WOAH. But for the the longest time I was more concerned with the way I looked- and the foods that got me to look that way- then I was with my actual health and wellness. The real shift for me came when I went plant based in 2015, but even then, I still slipped up here and there whenever it was someone's birthday or it was finally time for that post-tour stop-team-cheat meal. It happens. I'm human. And let's face it, being 100% plant based takes some serious effort. But it's definitely not impossible. And if I expect my body to do right by me, I need to step up and do right by my body. - Then I recently had a realization that renewed my passion for a whole foods plant based diet. ?? I hear from a lot of people who say that they tried to go plant based but they failed, and to you I say this: cutting out meat, dairy, processed foods, and artificial flavors is going to be a journey. These are foods that most of us were raised on and are typically at the center of some of our most beautiful memories. The transition will take time and will include failures in the forms of recipes, days or even months. Be easy on yourself and trust the process. ??❤ - If you identify with this, I recommend watching "Forks over Knives" and "Earthlings"! ?? And if you have any opinions to share or question feel free!?????? - @nfsports_ #nfsports #plantbased #consciouseating #selflove
