In 1980, #LorraineOGrady performed Nefertiti/Devonia Evangeline at Just Above Midtown Gallery in New York City, and these images are from her large photo project Miscegenated Family Album which grew out of her performance. Exploring issues of class, race, ethnography, and African American art, the work examines the troubled relationship between O’Grady and her deceased sister through juxtapositions of photographs of her sister Devonia, Nefertiti, and their families.
