Marilyn in miniature: 'Marilyn (Invitation)' was printed in 1981 as an invitation for 'Andy Warhol: A Print Retrospective 1963-1981' at Castelli Gallery in New York. Measuring 7 x 14 inches, this miniature version of Warhol's famous 'Pink Marilyn' screenprint, conceived in 1967, features the artist's distinctive signature on the front in blue felt-tip pen. Marilyn Monroe was perhaps the perfect embodiment of Warhol’s ideals; she was tragic, sexy and consumable all at the same time.
