in the misty dampness of the morning, i carefully opened the door to the henhouse and slipped my hand under the warm feathery hens, each time feeling for a large egg beneath and each time being rewarded with a white or pinkish brown treasure - I carried my precious cargo back to the kitchen, which for the last few days has been flooded in a gossamer blue sort of light, and set them on the counter. I began pulling ingredients from the cupboards opening jars and breathing in the contents, feeling more and more inspired as I went, pulling beautiful chunks of ginger from the fridge and a bottle of fresh milk. Baking was never something I much cared for, but recently a few work projects have required it and to my surprise I have found nothing but sheer delight in creating and concocting - making a little kitchen magic - folding tempered chocolate through a sugary egg cream watching it swirl and mix together hold a lightness while melding into one - it brought on a feeling of deep contentment and the purest of delight - and I realized that in all my years of practice a certain progress has been made
