#tbt 2002 while doing the @jimmykimmellive Show. #Repost @leeanntweeden ・・・ #tbt Ahhh, so this picture takes me waaaay back. It was actually taken backstage at @jimmykimmellive one night years ago. (Jimmy has a cool backstage area with a bar that people used to go and just hang out in during shows.) Anyway, on this particular night, @rickycarmichael & @therealjs7 were there. Two greats of Supercross! For a little history, I started riding dirt bikes in my teens. For years, I loved watching motocross and Supercross as a fan. Fast forward some years later and I was living in LA doing "Fitness Beach" on ESPN2 when I got the call asking if I'd like to try out to be the first female announcer of the US Supercross Series. I jumped at the chance! My audition was at the LA Coliseum!!! Suddenly, I was a 23 year old girl standing on the dirt, interviewing the best riders in the world! Riders that I loved watching as a fan. It was also the first time I had to deal with a serious audio delay in what I was saying into the mic to when it came out across the PA system. That can throw you off your game! Nothing like learning on the job in front of 70,000 people! During the production meeting, we went over all aspects of the night. From the open...video montage, rider intros, fireworks etc...to the heats, the pee wee mini race (my favorite!) to the main events. (This was back when they raced 2 strokes...125s and 250s.) What an amazing experience! I was in charge of researching and coming up with my own questions. By the end of that night, I thought I did OK, but wasn't sure what Roy Jansen thought...the man who ran the series and who hired me. But he was happy and invited me on to become a part of their traveling show! THANK YOU ROY! Those were 2 amazing and fun years of my life! I was accepted by everyone in that community... I did a column in @racerxonline (thank you @dcracerx), @emig47 gave me my nickname "The First Lady of Supercross" and told me it was historic because no matter who came next, I would always be the first! Thanks Jeffro. And someone who was in the trenches with me every weekend for 2 years was @toddjendro! We learned a lot! Alright, I'll leave it here
