Today is World Health Day! The theme for this year is depression. Often we experience depression in our lives, be it our friends, family, or even ourselves. Its just that, we hardly talk about it. • Truth be told, I used to have some suicidal thoughts when I was really lost or when I was deeply emotional. Why do I choose to be open about this? I think it's time we are honest and truthful with how we feel. Thoughts can become reality if we don't recognise how potentially dangerous they are. I used to wallow up in self pity and not do anything for two days straight if I felt low or down. With no one to turn to I had to go to the depths of darkness before I tell myself that's enough, and find courage to pull myself out of it. I never knew who to talk to or trust. I felt no one understood and sometimes I even felt in a comfort zone in the midst of darkness. • It felt strangely comfortable to be numb to the emotions. But now I realise, I never knew how much I was loved. The value of my life. And what I am meant to be in my life. I am loved for who I am and there are genuine people around me who cares. Most importantly, God loves me and I find so much purpose, love and hope every day. I am thankful for what I went through so now, I know how to relate to others in similar circumstances. • On World Health Day, i just want to share with whoever is experiencing depression that you are never alone! Find someone you can talk to or helplines available. Talk to someone and know you are so loved for who you are! You are valued and you are well loved. You are never alone. Love, Felicia
