2017 marks the 70th anniversary of Magnum Photos. Throughout this seventy year history there have been many attempts to define the agency, its members’ vision of photography, its values and its history, with descriptions wildly varying from ‘an utterly impossible concept’ (John G Morris) to a ‘concept-idea greater than any of its members’ (Elliott Erwitt).
