Architects Kevin Roche, John Dinkeloo and Associates accounted for the monumentality of the Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing by designing a space that evokes the temple's original location on a natural rocky hillside near the Nile River and by presenting the temple facing east, where it stands under the bright light of a wall made entirely of windows. As part of our month-long celebration of 50th anniversary of the award of the Temple, here is an image taken during the final phase of The Sackler Wing's construction before it opened in 1978. #TBT #TheMet #TempleofDendur #Temple50
