The Queen takes up summer residence further down at Balmoral, completing the Royal links between this iconic landscape and it rich history. This image is part of our larger coverage of the Scottish Moors in the May issue National Geographic magazine, with photography I did over the last two years. The Moors and grand estates encapsulate the greater issue of what constitutes a natural landscape and who gets to control Scottish land. But that morning the only thing that mattered to me and my able assistant Paul Tomkins was the glorious light highlighting a glorious bit of moors. @natgeocreative #scotland #nature
