This synagogue, built in 1795 in the small Hungarian wine village of Mád underwent a full renovation in the early 2000s.
.
I visited because my friend @callahan_julie suggested it, but I had no idea how powerful the story behind it's continued upkeep was until I met the caretaker, Barnabás.
