"It was beautiful to start my day off at the sculpture garden viewing Alexander Calder's ‘Sandy's Butterfly’ (1964). Butterflies are one of the signifiers for spring, so I am hoping we’ll get spring to stick around soon! Calder’s ‘Red Lily Pads’ (1956) is currently on view at the Guggenheim. There is an interesting contrast between Calder’s ‘Sandy's Butterfly,’ which is such a grounded work, and the ‘Red Lily Pads,’ which is so airy.
