The pollution has all but killed fishing in this tiny community. According to a recent NYT article and the Famine Early Warning Systems Network, Nigeria faces food insecurity every 3 years. About 45% of Nigeria’s children under 5 suffer from chronic malnutrition. Additionally, Sub-Saharan Africa is currently in the midst of a population boom, necessitating more food growth at a time when climate change is introducing more problems. Nigeria has the highest fertility rate in the entire world, where women bear an average of seven children. #everydayclimatechange #Shell #ECC #actonclimage #climatechangeisreal #pollution #Niger #Africa
