For those of us who (sadly) aren't touring Alaska on motorcycles...an image from ambassadors @twowheelednomad. Here's what Lisa and Jason report: "The bears are just coming out of torpor now (a deep sleep) in the Alaskan wilderness. That said, when they are pushing up zZZs throughout the winter, the odd one will still surface now and again if it’s roused by hearing a loud noise, is moved or touched. According to some experts, it’s a misconception that bears “hibernate” through the winter. Every finger and toe crossed, we’re still on high alert for an adult grizzly—witnessing one of those—from a safe distance—would be the wildlife cherry on the frosted cake. Or a cougar: rarer than rocking horse poop. Still, seeking out solace in a roaming muskox, which if you haven’t seen, are heavily built goat-antelopes with thick straight-haired curtains for coats. Made distinctive by their large curved horns, presented in a Lego-lady-meets-Viking-hairstyle."
