So I was playing around with these overwrought parodies of Expressionism, like Otto Mueller or Emil Nolde. It’s funny because Expressionism is supposed to be so anti-rational and the opposite of Neue Sachlichkeit, of Christian Schad and Otto Dix, but I always saw them as really complementary.
