Today is the 40th anniversary of #StarWars. The movie’s release, in 1977, coincided with a peak in pot-smoking among U.S. high schoolers (which didn’t hurt ticket sales). Christopher Walken was originally cast as Han Solo, a character who was partly based on Francis Ford Coppola. And George Lucas took the name “Wookey” from the surname of a friend of a friend.
