"Orange You Glad" (detail) contains a duality of thought. Initially, you might see the mask of Trump as an ass assuming a stance comfortable to a dictator with heels together. Or perhaps you might see the female form turned around, head covered by a mask and bound at the ankles like a prisoner. The orange figure is juxtaposed against an over-idealized scene of green grass and blue skies. The title is both literal and metaphorical as it asks the question to America as a statement. I certainly wanted to express my sentiments regarding our current political climate. And now that Trump just withdrew America from the Paris Climate Agreement, I feel this is a good time to put the work painting out there. -- @jasonbardyarmosky, featured in the June 2017 issue
