This Antarctic Octopus illustration by late 19th century artist Fritz Winter is just one of the many hauntingly beautiful images featured in Opulent Oceans, @アメリカ自然史博物館’s special exhibition on display in the LeFrak Theater Corridor. The exhibit is made up of 46 exquisite reproductions from 33 rare scientific works that showcase the truly astonishing diversity of life forms found in our oceans. Beginning some 400 years ago, European voyages of discovery began mapping the globe, and knowledge of ocean life flourished as never before.
