Constantin Brancusi's sculpture "The Sorceress," pictured with "Watchdog," has been interpreted as the flying witch described in Romanian peasant tales. Brancusi never clarified the visual sources for his designs, preferring instead to promote an air of mystery surrounding the origins of his vision. Although Brancusi preferred not to interpret his own work for viewers, he did give this sculpture a title. How does knowing the title change the way you view the work of art? Explore works from the innovative sculptor on view in "Guggenheim Collection: Brancusi" at guggenheim.org/brancusi.
