This exquisite human is @estherperelofficial, and if you haven't seen her TED talk, please open your internet browser and watch it right now. • Esther is a psychotherapist whose exploration of the dichotomy of our human need for both security and freedom in relationship is revolutionizing partnership for many. She is a light. And I'm lucky to call her a friend. • I was fortunate to be present at an intimate dinner with Esther last week, and I have been thinking about words that she spoke, nonstop. She talked about how when people are stuck, "a different story breeds hope." How so often people listen to each other only to reply, and that we have to reframe. She said "the form precedes the content. Don't listen for content, for stories. Look at form. Form precedes. It's architecture." The architecture of human relationship is complex and beautiful. And reframing the way we look at it can create movement where people are stuck. • What wisdom. For all relationships, not just the romantic ones. Examine form. Structure. The structure of how we move in communication matters. If you changed how you exist in a structure, could you change your life? Could you change the world? • For the first time ever, we the public have the opportunity to examine form in a new way, by listening to Esther's sessions with couples. She has partnered with @audible_com to present a podcast called "Where Should We Begin?" I've been listening to it all week long. In it, though you won't hear yourself, you'll see yourself. You'll identify with couples that you don't know. You'll see your patterns; maybe those of your parents. Maybe your friends. You will learn. And you will be offered the sacred and tender gift of being able to mutter, under your breath, "me too." You will be reminded that you are not alone. #EstherPerel #WhereShouldWeBegin #Podcast
