NAME : GEORGE OKORO @georgeokoro
MAGIC : PHOTOGRAPHY (WEDDING ) "'I'm your typical Igbo boy born and spent the best of my childhood growing up in Aba before I ventured to Akwa Ibom state for high school and later Igbinedion University Okada where I obtained a degree in Economics and Development studies .. My career started with a micro finance bank in Abuja for a short spell before I joined @mtnng as a sales consultant ( that's what they called us) . I wasn't satisfied doing the 9-5 thing and I was constantly looking for side businesses to do.. I never knew that photography which was something I just did for fun would be the one thing that will put food on my table and still give me the kind of satisfaction I'm yet to find anywhere else .. Growing up, I found myself drawn to the camera and not exactly photography ... yes I enjoyed taking pictures for fun but I always wanted to own a camera because I thought it was super cool .
Before photography I have ventured into business like selling airtime and clothes and trust me that was a real hustle until I found my calling.
I picked up my camera again in 2013 after I saw what the likes of @obisomto and @alakija could do with it .. I remember calling Obi Somto to tell him about my decision and how I was going to apply my marketing and sales skills to my photography and he actually thought I was kidding .. I'm mainly self taught even though I did a basic beginners course online with New York Institute of Photography which I haven't bothered to collect my graduating certificate. I have gone from begging to shoot for free, to asking for N10,000 and they will price me 8k or sometimes N5,000 but that didn't discourage me to be honest . I decided to start a birthday blog where I showcased the birthday events I photographed with a little story to go with. People caught the bug from there and started requesting for my service .
Today I look back at those days and it simply reminds me of where I'm coming from and what I can actually achieve .
