Percy Bysshe Shelley, ‘To The Moon’. ‘The Weary #Moon’ is one of a group of watercolours by Edward Robert Hughes depicting the #Roman Goddess Diana in her form as Selene. Here, Selene is in her crescent shape in the moon's early phase of the lunar cycle, surrounded by golden clouds and silvery stars, her body contoured with silver paint. This ethereal work goes on view in our #London galleries from 8 July, as part of our #Victorian, #PreRaphaelite and British Impressionist Art sale on 13 July. ?
