Irina Alegre (@irinacosmopolitan) first came out on Instagram. “I was tired of keeping it a secret, so I posted a picture of us,” says the 24-year-old Madrid-based blogger and artist, who’s been with her girlfriend for four years. “It was never an official announcement — but what better way to show love than to do so naturally?” The same belief in love also applies to @trendunicorn, Irina’s brand of T-shirts — she illustrates them with geometric patterns of unicorns, hoping to inspire those who wear them to accept themselves as they are.
On Pride Day in Madrid, Irina will be celebrating by “proclaiming that love is love, having a good time and, above all, defending equality, which is a basic right for all of us.” This celebration of pride is still necessary these days, says Irina. “The day that it no longer feels necessary will be a great day.” #Pride2017
