A great time in wrestling where promos were never scripted and you just spoke from your gut and your heart. Learned so much when I was a kid watching these guys (including my dad Rocky Johnson) because the bottom line was if you couldn't talk on the mic ?, then that meant you never "got over" with the crowd, which meant you'll have a hard time feeding your family. Which is why back in the late 70's, early 80's you would watch these wrestlers give promos and think, "this shit sure seem real..." That's because it was.
