"Back in October of 2012, when I’d first started covering sneakers for @slamonline, Nike let me personalize a pair of LeBron Xs a couple weeks before they hit NIKEiD. I went through an agonizing number of color combinations before settling on this one. I think I was subconsciously inspired by the iconic Ken Griffey Jr. Mariners uniforms of the ‘90s. Fast-forward to All-Star Weekend 2014 in New Orleans and I happen to be in the same room as LeBron for a couple minutes at a charity event. On his way out the door, he nods at my feet and says something like, “Nice kicks, I like what you did with them.” It was a fleeting moment, but I’ll never, ever forget it. LeBron co-signed my colorway of his sneakers. Crazy!
