Fashion is intrinsically political. That’s why in the upcoming edition of the #PhotoVogueFestival we decided to explore how fashion photography has succeeded in conveying a message that goes well beyond the mere advertising intent. In the exhibition "Fashion & Politics" (co-curated by @alessiaglaviano and @chiaranonino) we selected those Vogue Italia’s editorials that addresses some of the most relevant topics of our times: from the morbid obsession with plastic surgery and the media’s glamorization of rehab clinics, to the stereotypical model of the perfect family down to extreme consumerism. Our aim is to raise a series of questions, all originating from the following: given the significant increase in media exposure, are we certain that continuing to consider fashion photography as a mere advertising platform can truly help us understand the breadth of its influence on contemporary costumes and its consequences?
