“The outstanding altarpiece … should be a pilgrimage site of its own this summer.” —New York Times on “Cristóbal de #Villalpando: Mexican Painter of the Baroque,” on view at The Met Fifth Avenue through October 15, 2017. This time-lapse video captures the installation of Cristóbal de Villalpando's “Moses and the Brazen Serpent and the Transfiguration of Jesus.” The installation of Villalpando's 28-foot-tall masterpiece took five days and involved the combined expertise of more than a dozen riggers, machinists, carpenters, and art technicians in addition to the exhibition curator and four conservators.
