Today in Central Park ,New York State crushed 2 tons of ivory that had been seized from criminals over the last 3 years. Since NY passes a law banning the sale of ivory. Today was the 4th Ivory Crush or burn that I've been too. It's horrific that we have to continue trying to bring awareness to the desperate plight of elephants. But at the same time I am so proud of the commitment of bipartisan law makers, law enforcement, the DA's office, the big conservation orgs + individuals who continue to make their voices heard in defense of wildlife. It is going to take all of these groups working together to bring an end to the barbaric poaching of elephants. And then we can focus on loving +supporting the elephants who survived- like the ones I know at @dswt . I dream of them living a peaceful life in the wild. I dream of the Sheldrick family being able to relax ( just a little ?). And all of us who love and support #dswt being able to love the eles without fear for their safety.
