Man, what a TRIP down memory lane! My grandson's friend recently sent me this program & ticket that he found from a 1953 Lionel Hampton show with Clifford Brown, Art Farmer, & myself (on trumpets). As soon as I picked it up, I was absolutely blown away to see the date listed on the ticket! This was the exact day that my very first baby, Jolie, was born. I was on a long tour with Hamp & as a result, I didn't get to see her for the first three months of her life. I wanted to come back home to meet my new child, but 17 bucks a night wasn't enough to support a family...so I had to keep going. It's heavy to think about all of the memories that this one ticket holds!...Thanks for sending this Jeff! As I always say, a coincidence is just God's way of remaining anonymous!
