How do you preserve an inherently fragile object? #BKMConservation recently examined #GlennLigon's screen-print "Untitled (Crowd/The Fire Next Time), which is dusted with coal crystals that are vulnerable to becoming detached. Using a small brush, the stability of each and every coal crystal is gently tested, and if needed, stabilized with an appropriate adhesive. Although this treatment requires a fair amount of time and patience, our paper conservator thoroughly enjoyed the view from the microscope (swipe right)!
