We pulled up to the permit buildings in Denali, hoping to get permission to camp in two well-spaced campgrounds along the park road so we could bike our planned route. The campgrounds were mostly full, except Sanctuary at mile 23. We opted to reserve a site for two nights & went back to the drawing board for our itinerary. Flexibility is key on any adventure, and changing our plans in an instant at the permit desk added a bit of fun and mystery to our Denali ride. Planning ahead & preparing is a key leave no trace step, and I guess a big part of all that planning is to prepare you to change plans on the fly!
