The story behind this #tbt #selfie (before they were a thing). My "Dana” #beach #hair #style was created that day (#thankyou @fouriecarla ) the indescribable feeling of how #happy I was at that very moment.
However, that day was one of our first PROPER surfing lessons - 5 hours of grueling, intense #fun in the #sea with my new best #friends / teachers. Allan @allansurferwallace (our coach and co star ) chose the perfect moment to give @officialelizabethmxo and I #handmade necklaces he made for us. (#fun fact : if you have seen the poster or #movie you can see Liz “Pushy" was allowed to keep hers on as wardrobe. I wasn’t, but it has been on my neck at every possible moment over the past 7 years)
This necklace has such a #strong #energy that it brings back every memory from that time.
Allan was one of the many #life changing people who kept me safe, saved #me often (seriously).
Who made me fall deeper in love with everything about the #ocean and all the #amazing and inevitable challenges from #nature. Fall deeper in love with my failings which I ALWAYS learned from (@oceanchild001 and @claytonsurfboardsaus - can vouch for that one - longboard to the head / cockroach).Deeper in love with my unpredictable #water #home, with my #body changing and learning the miracles that happen during a simple breath hold and the mind/body connection (thank you for my rag doll mermaid bliss @hanliprinsloo ) .
An experience that has remained so prominently in my soul and #heart and will never leave me. could not be more grateful for everyone involved on that shoot and for all the #memories made during that trip. #bluecrush2 #blue crush #family #love #southafrica #smile
