Today we’re tipping our bowler hats to one of the grandest timepieces to ever tick—as Big Ben will fall silent after its famous chime rings out over London today at noon GMT, for a while at least. This is due to renovation works in its tower, which are expected to keep Big Ben from ringing until 2021. At NOMOS Glashütte, our service turnaround is considerably quicker but then again, our watchmakers don't have to carry out repairs at 96 meters up.
Big Ben is actually the name of the biggest bell housed inside the Elizabeth Tower, rather than the clock itself—but you probably already knew that.
