When your Merrily We Roll Along poster from the original 1981 Broadway production matches your painted Joni Mitchell’s Court and Spark t-shirt made by @sunnybetz given to you by @roseolm!!!!!!!!! Both of these things are very important to me: not just the musical but Lonny Price’s documentary about that production, Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened, which is on Netflix + I’d recommend to anyone interested in different ways to quantify success/failure and who also wants old footage of a bunch of teenagers (including a YOUNG JASON ALEXANDER) working with Sondheim, their GOD; and the Joni album, which I listened to on repeat so desperately and religiously a couple years ago that I’m sure whoever moved into my old apartment needed a ghost hunter cuz they were like “This place feels haunted...with the jazz experiments of a singer-songwriter searching for meaning at music industry parties back in 1974????”
