The artwork we commissioned to profess our homeland will be on display in our #BerwickStreet store window. Anyone passing through the capital, especially our friends from #theNorth, should make time to see it. Your band, or the band you follow may be on here.
When we started in 1981 in #Manchester- our efforts to shake up the way things were done, put us in a position were we shunned, turned away, and labelled too 'unconventional'. Does this sound familiar to many of you? Back then, things were simple, yet tedious. You either dressed like a child or dressed like your parents- that was the choice. Not many stores were really into the idea of filling their windows and shelves with stuff for teenagers or #subcultures. Yet we processed that indifference into fuel- and manifested our anger to drive us forward.
We are lucky enough to know everyday that our following includes a sizable amount of creators, manifesters and mavericks. The inspiration cycle goes back and forth between. And because of this, and having had to overcome so many obstacles ourselves - we want to help out young, challenging creatives wherever we can. That's what our #Soundwave project is all about. By promoting them, by speaking about them and about championing their work. As we say, we don't pretend to talent scout -we do this simply because we like what you're doing.
So if you happen to be one of the fantastic bands featured on the above display- we're glad to have inventors and creators like you working today. Especially in a region as dear to us as the North. And if you would like to get to know us a bit better and tell us more about your work, the door is wide open. Come in, pull up a chair and tell us.
